About Us

The Auerbuch Stone Lab explores how bacterial pathogens sense and adapt to the host environment during infection. We investigate the regulatory networks that control virulence gene expression, with a focus on how pathogens like Yersinia detect cues such as iron availability and oxygen tension.

We also work with the UCSC Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and the UCSC Chemical Screening Center to identify identify novel antimicrobials. More about our research.
